Hebrew School

Why Shabbat Morning?

At Kol Ami, we believe that Shabbat is the heart of Jewish life – a time for learning, prayer, and community. By holding Hebrew School on Saturday mornings, we model meaningful Jewish living and invite families to learn and grow together. While children learn in class, parents are welcome to attend services, enjoy a coffee, or take time for themselves. And Sundays are free!

The last 20 minutes of the day is Shabbat Family T’fillah (“SFT”) in which students and parents gather to pray, sing, and learn together. It is a great way to meet other families, find out what’s happening in the classroom, and celebrate Shabbat with your child.

Hebrew School begins promptly on Saturday mornings at 9:30 AM. Please arrive no more than 5–10 minutes early.

What to Expect

A Joyful, Hands-On Jewish Education

Our dynamic, experiential curriculum blends creativity with meaningful content from JK through Grade 7, including:

  • Hebrew reading and writing at each student’s own pace
  • T’fillah (prayer) and Jewish spiritual practice
  • Torah stories, holidays, and Jewish values
  • Modern and Biblical Israel
  • Jewish culture, art, music, food, and language
  • Interactive programs like Jewnior Games and Hebrew Through Movement

Our students don’t just learn about Judaism – they live it through hands-on activities that make every Shabbat morning engaging and memorable.

A Community of Values

At Kol Ami, learning is grounded in Jewish values:

  • Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World)
  • Gemilut Chassadim (Acts of Loving-kindness)
  • Tzedakah (Righteous Giving)

Students take part in social action projects that connect learning with making a difference – locally and globally.

Personalized and Inclusive

We are proudly inclusive, progressive, and egalitarian. Interfaith and LGBTQ+ families are always welcomed. We support all learning styles, and a Student Support Specialist is available to ensure every child is supported and celebrated.

Midweek Hebrew – Wednesdays

Our Wednesday program offers online 15-minute, individual, personalized instruction for Grades 3–7 at Level 2 or higher. It helps reinforce Hebrew skills and Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation.
